Our desire is to do this through the local church – a people have taken seriously the mission of Christ to reach the lost by being Savior Focused, Spirit Fashioned and Scripturally Founded. Jesus said as recorded in Matthew 5.16, “Let you light shine before men in such that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” He has forever changed our lives and we want our world to know.

“What on earth am I here for?” Almost everyone asks themselves this question at one point in life or another. The desire for purpose in universal to humanity. People have been seeking purpose ever since there were people! To find the purpose of life, we need to ask the Creator of life. God created each one of us on purpose for a purpose. God has a calling that he invites each us to live out. So, what is that purpose? God created us for worship God created us for ministry God created us for evangelism God created us for fellowship God created us for discipleship God wants you to become like His Son, Jesus. That’s a tall order! How can we ever hope to become like Jesus? God invites us on this journey of becoming more like Christ everyday of our lives. Let’s look to the Bible today and see the purposes God has for us, and how we can move forward to Become Like Christ. Matthew 28:18-20 says Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. So many people today struggle with loneliness. Loneliness is now seen as a modern-day epidemic. With our ever-busy lives that get busier and busier, it is hard to develop and maintain deep, lasting relationships. It can be easy to feel like an island in the ocean, surrounded by so much, but connected to so little. Is this what God desires for His people? No! God desires that each of us would have deep, fulfilling connections to other people. He does not want to see anyone “go it alone”. In fact, God created us for fellowship. This is also in everything that we do, from being a husband or wife, a mother or father, a doctor, teacher, baker or whatever you do. Your identity is made in God's image. If you embrace your identity in God, you will find significance. You will find you meaning in life, and your purpose. We have just remembered the events of Passion Week and celebrated Jesus’ resurrection victory over sin and death. There is another event that we can tend to overlook that should leave us in awe and give us great hope for the future. The Ascension of Jesus into heaven and His coronation as King at the right hand of the Father are foundational to our faith as Christians. Both the Old and New Testaments speak of Jesus as Messiah, the King of Glory, reigning in total victory in heaven and earth until all of His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. How does that play out in history and how should it affect our lives as Christ followers today? We are going to explore those questions today and rejoice that our King is coming again! Today we celebrate the greatest day in the history of the world, the resurrection of Jesus. The resurrection is what unites all of Christianity. The resurrection is what secures our standing before God. The resurrection brings victory over death itself! The resurrection is the foundation of our joy now and forever. But why don’t we often feel joyful? Jesus promised to be with us always. Sometimes, in the midst of great grief or sorrow, we don’t see Jesus in our lives. Many people ask, “Where is Jesus?” Today, we’re going to see another person who was so focused on her grief she could not see Jesus standing right in front of her. We’ll see how easy it is for us to miss Jesus, even though He is always with us. Jesus Christ is the infinite God-Man. By saying “infinite” we mean, He has always existed. He was not a created being…He was, is and always will be. By saying “God” is to say He is fully God. By saying “Man” is to say He was fully man. All that God is, is embodied in Jesus. All that man is supposed to be, is embodied in Jesus. We see God most clearly in the person of Jesus who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life; He died a gruesome death on the cross which was the once and for all sacrifice for our sins according to the scriptures. He further, arose from the dead, ascended to heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of the Father ever making intercession for us…and He is coming again-maybe today! This past Sunday was “Palm Sunday” which begins the observance of the most sacred week of the year for Christians around the world. It is known as Passion Week. Jesus sat in motion events that would lead to His own crucifixion and resurrection from the dead. What took place on this week would lead to the salvation of multiplied millions of people and would change the world forever. A Divine conspiracy took place before the dawn of time that set into motion the events of Passion Week. Today is Monday...its a hard stressful day of the week. We jump into the work week waiting for 4:00 on Friday to roll around and start to relax. We are always thankful for Friday and the weekends, but what if we were thankful on the day we dread? What if we started thanking God for every day of the week, even Monday's? Now, what if we were thankful to God even in our low times? A break up, parent dying, losing your job? It's still rough, but I bet it will be a lot better.
